St. Jude Circle

 Home

St. Jude Circle is a group of dedicated women that have been active within the parish since 1982. We have served both the parish and the school families in many aspects – some religiously, some physically and some socially. We have always held one GOAL within our hearts and that would be helping those who have fallen on hard times. We have been able to do this by working independently or closely with the various organizations of the parish. We have and continue sponsoring many fundraising events which have allowed us to help those in need.

Some of the events or fundraisers we have sponsored throughout the years or contributed to are as follows:

Christmas Bazaar - Shrove Tuesday Supper - Fish Fries - Festival dinners
Train Show Kitchen - Festival Booths - Donut Sunday - Cupcake sales
Feeding the Homeless - Mother’s Day Flower Sale - Parisian Coupon Sale
Provided “prizes” to Christmas Dinner - Recipe Books - Button/ Balloon Boot
Candy Sales

We have contributed over many years to our parish for the following:

Supplies for the ceramic classes for grades 3-8 (Sr. Sienna)
1st Gestetner copy machine for the school office (Sister Claudine)
Hot Water Tank for the rectory (Fr. John Zwers)
Tuition paid in full for various school families
School Uniforms for several families
Class Trips for students whose family couldn’t pay
8th Grade Graduation Party
Fund Raiser for SRB family
Adopted family at Christmas time
Contributed school supplies to a SRB serviceman in Iraq
Flowers for ill members of SRB
Mass cards for ill/deceased members of SRB
Funeral Luncheon contributions
Toiletries for the homeless
Christmas donations to our priests
Prepare meals for homebound members
Wrote letters to service men
Made a lap covering (tied knots) for a sick member

Outside organizations that we ourselves or other parish members have been touched by and have asked us to contribute too are:

St. Jude Children’s Hospital
First Step - Smile Train - Angela Hospice - Lennon Center - Marycrest Manor
Children’s Methodist Home - - Ronald McDonald House - Sarah Fisher Home
St. Christine’s Food Bank - Redford Interfaith - AAA Pregnancy Crisis Center Haven (Pontiac) - American Red Cross (battered women/children) - Lutheran Home

Our lists could go on and on, but we just wanted to inform the parishioners what the St. Jude Circle is about. We are NOT a group of OLD LADIES, but a group of older, wiser and more mature ladies that are working hard to help those in need. We are continuing to make our plans for the upcoming year and we hope that some of the ladies that read this article will want to get on board with us.

We meet once a month (2nd Wednesday) at 7:00 in the Meeting Center; share ideas; plan our fund raisers. This is done while we are anxiously waiting to taste the treat brought to the meeting by a member. During dessert time, we enjoy hearing about the trips, garage sales, shopping trips, etc. that our friends have participated in or are planning to take. .
