Children’s
Liturgy of the Word
Children’s Liturgy of the
Word (CLOW) is a way to help children understand the Word of
God in a way that is meaningful for them. The children attend
Mass with their family as usual, but leave after the opening
prayer to hear the readings at a level geared to them. Leaders
will hold interactive discussions with the children about what
the readings might mean for them. The children generally return
to their families at offertory.
Here at St. Robert Bellarmine
we celebrate CLOW at the 10:30am Mass on Sundays. Parents are
always welcome to come and see if this is something that might
benefit their child’s faith formation experience. Parents
should consider if their child is able to comfortably separate
from them for approximately 20 minutes. You may wish to attend
the first couple of times with your child to see how they respond.
We do ask that children refrain from bringing toys to CLOW in
order to avoid distractions.
Older children are invited to
help celebrate CLOW by playing music, cantering (leading singing),
or lecturing (reading scripture) for the children.
If you are an adult who would
like to share your gifts in this ministry (or at least see what
it is about), please call the Office of Faith Formation at 313-937-1531.
