Cardinal Sports News
With our CYO regular season schedule completed, many of our
teams have moved on to post-season tournament play. Our teams
will be participating in either the CYO play-offs, the St. Valentine
Tournament or the St. Pius Tournament in Southgate. Competition
begins this weekend and continues through March 14th. Tournament
schedules for all teams involved in post-season can be found
on the Athletics page of the SRB web-site at www.strobertbellarmine.com.
At our annual Parent appreciation day, we took time to thank
our parents for their support of our athletic program through
all of their efforts in transporting their children to and from
practice, games, scrimmages and tournaments. I addition, they
spent offered their time helping at our home games, sometimes
while trying to watch their children play. Today, I extend my
sincere appreciation to all of the coaches and assistants. Many
of them have children who have long since graduated from SRB.
Some are grandparents of future SRB players. Some are parents
of current players. No matter where they fall in this scenario,
they all possess the heart, determination and commitment to
help mold these young men and ladies. They have guided them
through nail biting wins and heart wrenching losses. I am proud
to be associated with such a tremendous group of dedicated volunteers.
Throughout the season, we have hosted a sixty-five game tournament
and 43 home games and provided a wide array of food items for
our families and visitors at one of the finest concession stands
in the area, per the comments from our guests. This was all
possible due to the efforts of Linda and her tireless staff.
They not only shopped for, prepared and served a full menu each
game day, they also helped to oversee the Pop-A-Shot and 50/50
games. Although I don’t have room to thank everyone, I
would like to thank Maria, Kathleen and Jenna for all of the
assistance that they offered. Last, but not least, I need to
thank Bob for his persistent phone calls in scheduling our volunteers
for admissions and the shift workers to help in the kitchen.
There are numerous others that I have not listed. They know
who they are, and what they have done. No matter what your role
this season, I thank you.
Practice sessions for spring sports will begin the week of
